My Heuristic Teacher

Area resident Thaddeus Holownia (right), an internationally-renowned photographer and fine arts professor, has been honoured with the Order of New Brunswick. - Katie Tower Photographer Sackville Tribune

I once said to my fine art Professor, Thaddeus Holownia that teaching was like being a Youth Care Worker, which I had been for 20 some years, in that you either have the passion for it or you don't.
I told him it was obvious to me he had the passion for teaching. I went on to say you can always get the education, but not the passion.

And so I was so happy and proud to learn that my heuristic teacher had been recognized to the Order of New Brunswick.

My mother, who taught for 40 years, would agree with you - you can get a degree for teaching but the love for it comes from within. :)

I am so happy to hear this news, Cathy. I was introduced to him through your stories of life at Mount A. I knew how highly you thought of him. I began to search his work out and was amazed. Then, remember, we went to movie night in Sackville and you introduced me to him. That was so great.

He so deserves this honor.

Thank you Christie,

Yes it's a great thing that's happened and he's made a such a contribution to Sackville and to NB but to the creative world generally, not to mention how many lives he has inspired and helped through his gift of teaching and dedication to creativity. He's 'The Dude'!
