There are three attributes in an individuals personality that I believe to be essential in life in order to not simply survive but to thrive. These attributes are persistence, trust, and prayer.

I have a friend, who is a very gifted artist, whom I've known from many years back, when attending the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in the 70s. In my opinion Michael Gaudet strongly and consistently demonstrates the attributes in his personality that I've mentioned.

I wanted to share this post because I greatly admire my friend Michael, for both his talent and ability to thrive as seen in his blog post about his endeavors and accomplishments in life.

Michael Gaudet - Inspiration To Thrive

My friend, artist Michael Gaudet is making amazing progress on his murals. Having completed 90% of this first of two murals he will be undertaking the second one soon.

The images rendered certainly have a presence and his sense of mark making, use of paint and colour is striking, and vividly pops off the board. I'm looking forward to the completion of this prolific project. I think the energy of this work is not surpassed by the energy of the workers he is depicting.

I must say, Michael certainly is a real inspiration, in more ways than one! He is an artist that has moved beyond survival, and now is an artist who thrives.

Here is a recent update on the progress of my friend Michael Gaudet's mural project, for the Saskatchewan Government Employees' Union (SGEU). I suspect Michael is working tirelessly on this monumental undertaking.

Michael has so much experience creating and executing this kind of large scale art work, which boggles my mind really. That said, SGEU could not have chosen a more qualified artist or individual to do the job.
I am so very happy for him to have received this much deserved commission.

 I am going to date myself when I say I've known my good friend Michael, since way, way back in the 70s from our days as students at NSCAD, playing in a crazy band called the Suedeens. He is still the same soulful spirit who has a great passion for living life creatively to the fullest, with a big heart full of love and laughter.

I am grateful and proud to call Michael Gaudet  my friend. I want to wish him every success and blessing in his new creative adventure! I hope you will do the same in visiting his website. He's a pretty darn remarkable artist and human being!

Raising Awareness of Kidney Health

As a recovering alcoholic, who has been affected by the disease of alcoholism, multiple sclerosis and mental illness within my family, I understand how disease affects all the family. I know what it is like to feel like an outsider and  not ' normal '. No matter what the disease, most folks unless they have been personally affected, they don't give it much thought.

My beautiful, dear, gifted, artist friend Michael Gaudet, whom I have known since early days, at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, had been at that point, coping with kidney disease. When I first met Michael, I was impressed with his energy, joy, and passion for life, but I really didn't comprehend then, exactly what he'd been through.

He has a remarkable story to share I want others to know. Recently he has chronicled this story in his book, that he recently had published, entitled Dancing With Rejection .

We are all dying, but when you have a disease, life becomes precious. I have heard is said, the dying know how to live.

 Morrie Schwartz says most folks live life sleepwalking, never fully awake or aware. Morrie suffered with ALS and Mitch Albom wrote his book about him, Tuesdays With Morrie.
I deeply believe, if we can accept or own mortality, and death, we learn to live with energy, joy and passion for life, the way Michael does.

I am very happy to be able to share this post with my readers. It is about a fellow artist and long time friend from my days at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
Michael Gaudet has a poignant, inspiring and I believe an important story to tell, and that people need to know.

I first met Michael in the early eighties and immediately loved his infectious  personality, his enthusiasm and love of life. At the time I didn't fully comprehend what he had overcome in his young life. I had struggles of my own.

Many artists  struggle with obstacles in our lives. We make decisions around how we will cope with them. We can survive, in spite of the wounds life inflicts, or we can thrive because of them. Michael has thrived and I am proud to call him my friend.
